AP MANDARIN 

Course Description

AP Mandarin  class is for students at higher advanced level to use their knowledge of the Chinese language to decipher words and meanings to prepare them for reading real life material. AP Mandarin  includes wider range of vocabulary, phrases and popular expressions to allow students to hold descriptive and detailed conversations, express their opinions on topical issues and communicate articulately in a range of common situations.

Unit 2 - Special skills, future careers (Book 5, Lesson 1) 

Unit 3 - Making decisions, asking opinions, considering options (Book 5, Lesson 1)

Unit 4 - Living at home, renting (Book 5, Lesson 2)

Unit 5 - City life, country life (Book 5, Lesson 2)

Unit 6 - Aspirations for the future, hobbies (Book 5, Lesson 2)

Unit 7 - Geographical locations, area, population, surroundings (Book 5, Lesson 3)

Unit 8-  Historical events and attractions (Book 5, Lesson 3)

Unit 9 - Family circumstances, common goals (Book 5, Lesson 3)

Unit 10 -Chinese paintings, calligraphy, taichi, fengshui, Beijing opera (Book 5, Lesson 4)

Unit 11 - Family reunion, different views (Book 5, Lesson 4)

Unit 12 - Love and marriage (Book 5, Lesson 4)

Unit 13 - Tang poems (Book 5, Lesson 4)

Grading

Breakdown:

Examinations - 40 %

     Tests - 30%

     Quizzes - 10%

Assignments - 50%

     Homework - 10%

     Classwork - 10%

     Projects - 30%

Participation - 10%

     Students who are unprepared,make little to no effort toward achieving lesson objectives, reluctant to participate,                  or behave disruptively will receive a lower grade.




Scale: 

A 90~100 Excellent

B 80~89 Good

C 70~79 Fair

D 60~69 Poor

F 0~59 Failing
